Hectares

There are 117,000 hectares of vineyards dedicated to the wine production, double that of ten years ago. 80% of the planting is dedicated to classic varieties.


Production

Chile is ranked tenth in global wine production at with 828 million liters. In the last 10 years the production of wine-yielding grapes grew from 337 million liters to 802 million.


Exports

Chile occupies the fifth place in global exports with 610 million liters. Between 1995 and 2007 Chile had a strong increase in its wine exports, rising from 216 to 474 million liters representing US$412 million to US$1.256 million. In the same period, the price average by liter increased 46%. Wine represents 2.3% of total Chilean exports and 11% of agro-industrial exports. More than 73% of the wine that is produced is later exported. In 2007, Chile exported its wine to 122 countries with 292 companies exporting bottled wine.
